I am writer at work on my first novel, and I live with my husband and children in Mesa, Arizona. My interests include books, historic preservation, road trips, and poker.
This blog is named for the weekly drive I take through the mountains northeast of my home. The header photo was taken on the road to Saguaro Lake. I usually make the drive on Thursday, a date with myself to clear my mind and fill it up again with altogether different things. Worrying? Not allowed. Sorting out a sticky line of prose or a new lyric? Allowed. Trying to figure out my attractions to both Ed Harris AND Tony Soprano?
Totally allowed. I deliver the kids at school, swing through Starbucks, and head north. The route takes me all the way to Payson. Round trip, it's almost 150 miles and 3 CDs worth of good music.
Without fail, I end up farther from where I started than ever.
